NAYLOR Industries has been awarded silver Investors in People status after investing in the development of its employees and apprenticeship programme.
The Cawthorne and UK manufacturer of specialist construction products, including clay and plastic drainage pipes, concrete products and ducting, was upgraded to silver status after involving its employees through initiatives such as the Naylor Employee Forum.
The company has also made a commitment to employ 2.5 per cent of its Barnsley workforce in apprenticeship positions by April 2014 - a figure which has already been exceeded.
The business has now committed to employ at least one additional apprentice each year across the Naylor Industries group.
Bridie Warner-Adsetts, chief operating officer at Naylor Industries, said: "We are delighted to have been awarded Silver status in our recent Investors in People certification and that our ongoing investment in our people has been recognised."
Naylor Industries employs six apprentices across its South Yorkshire businesses, with eight employed in total across the group.
