THE new road through the Mayflower Gardens housing scheme at Wombwell may not be adopted by the council because it has not been finished.
The developers Ben Bailey Homes and the council had agreed on a date at the end of this month, but traffic has been using it since a few days before Christmas.
The council says there is no white line down the middle of the road and resurfacing needs finishing before it can take over maintenance.
Officers have now requested urgent talks with the developers whose offices at Mexborough were closed over the Christmas and New Year and who returned to work on Tuesday.
