A TREE which a Wombwell woman had campaigned to save was brought crashing through the roof of her house by gale force winds yesterday.
Anne Forshaw, 62, of Park Hollow was sitting in her front room having lunch at 1.15pm when she heard an almighty crash.
“I went through into the hall and saw roof tiles all over my staircase.”
The top of a large black poplar had split from its trunk, smashing into the roof and through the ceiling of an upstairs bedroom.
