WITNESSES are being sought by police following an arson attack that caused £75,000 damage in Goldthorpe.

The fire was started underneath a block of flats on Barnsley Road after access was gained through a shutter door into the underground car park.

A fire was started in one of the parked vehicles and then the shutter door was then closed at approximately 11.30pm on Saturday October 4.

A number of residents had to be evacuated from their homes while fire crews dealt with the blaze.

Two cars were destroyed and an estimated £75,000 will be needed to repair the damage caused to the building.
