GRIEVING families were shocked to learn the resting places of their loved ones had been disturbed during maintenance work at a cemetery.
The work resulted in a memorial stone marking the cremation plot of Clifford Hudson, 67, being moved to someone else's.
His family say they watched as council workers dug up urns containing ashes to check out which was the correct plot.
Coun Roy Miller, cabinet spokesman, said: "Unfortunately two paving flags, which provide a base for the cremation plaques, were damaged. We replaced the flags but the cremation plaques were put back on the wrong plots. We rectified this on Monday."
