THE future of a performing arts school is in doubt after thieves stole about £5,000 of its equipment from Darton Parish Hall.
Debbie Angel, who runs Angel Voices Performing Arts School, discovered the theft of items including a PA system, Yamaha mixing deck, LED lighting, a variety of microphones and wires last week.
Devastated Debbie, 44, is recovering from cancer and had planned an event next month to raise money for the Darton Church roof fund.
"I'm so upset because last year I couldn't do any fund-raising because I was so ill," she said. "I promised my surgeon I would do one for the Barnsley Hospice because everyone was so good to me.
"I was really looking forward to doing it but this is going to affect the business because I'm scared of working down there."
Police are appealing to anyone who may be offered for sale this type of equipment, or anyone who has any information, to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting incident number 224 of January 10.
