A CORONER has warned of the dangers of using disposable barbecues in small places after a Barnsley man died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Stephen Waddington, 53, was found next to three used disposable barbecues in the living room of his home on Tune Street after family members could not get in touch with him.
The fumes were so strong, two police officers were overcome and hospitalised after forcing entry.
Pathologist Dr Veena Naik recorded carbon monoxide poisoning as the cause of death.
Ms Slater recorded a verdict of accidental death, and told Andrew and Mr Waddington's niece Chloe: "I'm completely satisfied that Mr Waddington died as a result of a tragic accident. You were a very close family, I can see that. Please pass on my condolences to your family.
"If there are any lessons to be learned it's how dangerous it can be to have these small portable barbecues in small places."
