PRIMARY school pupil Chloe Moody swapped her uniform for ceremonial robes when she became mayor for the day.

Darfield All Saints CE Primary pupil Chloe was joined by fellow pupil Adam Gill as mayor's consort to find out what the town's first couple do during a typical day.

The pair took up official residence in the mayor's parlour and toured the town hall before being whisked off in the mayoral limousine, THE 1, for duties at Oakwell and at the police's mounted section at Ring Farm, Cudworth.

They were accompanied by their mums Joanne Moody and Julie Gill who were chauffeured in mayoral car THE 2 and by the real mayor and consort Coun Margaret and Gordon Morgan.

Mayor's secretary Liz Wright said the Darfield youngsters were selected when their names were pulled out of a hat.

“Each year we write to all primary schools to invite them to put forward the names of two children to serve as Mayor and Mayoress for a day,” Liz said.

“This is the first time a female junior mayor has been chosen.”
