A FAMILY history group is on a mission to get the names of two First World War soldiers put on a village war memorial after discovering they were missing.
The group made the discovery after they began to research the 55 names which appear on Dodworth war memorial, which stands at the corner of Green Road and High Street.
Robert Green, founder of the U3A history group, said they were shocked to find Private John Clegg and able seaman John William Dyson were not inscribed on the war memorial.
Robert, 70, of The Gate, Dodworth, feels they should be recognised as their names do not appear on any memorial elsewhere.
Robert is now keen to get in touch with any relatives of Pte Clegg, who died on November 13, 1916 and able seaman Dyson, who died on April 23, 1917
Any relatives of Pte Clegg and AS Dyson, or the 55 men named on the memorial, can get in touch with Robert at greendocdoc@aol.com or call 293759.
