ARSONISTS struck at Jump park and caused damage to play equipment which will cost £2,000 to £3,000 to repair.

The culprits are thought to have targeted the park behind The Flying Dutchman pub overnight on Sunday. They dragged a wooden pallet to the site which they then set alight.

It burned rubber safety surfacing around the play equipment, and melted rubber on steps up to a slide and the plastic handles on a roundabout.

Barnsley Council came out on Monday to clear up the worst of the damage but it was estimated it could take weeks to repair.
