BARNSLEY'S only dedicated professional service for victims of sex attacks has been saved from closure thanks to a £500,000 grant.
Barnsley Sexual Abuse and Rape Crisis Centre, based in The Core in County Way, has been handed the half million award by the Big Lottery Fund.
The service was facing a crisis due to a lack of funds.
The group opened initially as a voluntary service for women who had been raped or sexually abused, but has since extended its services to all Barnsley residents who need it.
