AN MP is pressing for action on a 'death trap' stretch of road in Hoyland which has claimed 15 lives in 32 years.

Residents of Wentworth Station on the A6135 say it has a long history of accidents resulting in deaths and serious injuries.

Resident Andy Belk has lived at Wentworth Station for more than 28 years and campaigns to make the road safer.

Barnsley East MP Michael Dugher, who is also Shadow Transport Secretary, said: "I have heard first hand from constituents the long history of road traffic accidents on the A6135 near Wentworth station.

"It is very concerning that so many accidents occur at this spot and I have raised this issue with Barnsley Council's traffic management team to discuss what action can be taken to increase road safety."
