THE son of an Athersley miner who died after being exposed to asbestos at work is trying to trace former colleagues who could provide vital information.

Charles Gummerson, 88, died in 2013 and a post mortem revealed he had been suffering from mesothelioma - a cancer of the lung caused by exposure to asbestos.

Mr Gummerson, known as 'Chuck', had spent more than 40 years working in the mining industry in the region, and it is believed he was exposed to the deadly dust during this time.
