IF time was money then churches and faith groups in Barnsley would have given more than £3 million to local groups and social projects, new research suggests.

Churches and faith groups from across the borough have launched a powerful new report in association with charity Cinnamon Network.

They claim it provides clear evidence of the large scale social action impact and economic value churches and faith groups are having in Barnsley.

Among other crucial statistics, it shows 1,800 local people volunteer through these groups on a regular basis and between them contribute more than 280,000 hours of service.
