IT'S a long way from London Bridge but a town centre building is to be dismantled piece by piece and transported to a new home in Derby.
Demolition has now started on the £50m Better Barnsley project to redevelop the town centre and the former Zero Ice and Carpet World building is the first building to go.
But it is destined for a new life in Derby as part of an ambitious 'recycling' scheme after demolition contractor Hague Plant has sold the basic structure.
Coun Roy Miller said: "They're going to take it down piece by piece like a giant Meccano set, and it will be reused either for commercial or possibly agricultural use by the buyer."
