BARNSLEY Council hasn't ruled out redeveloping former pub sites to create more affordable housing in future years.
It was discussed at an area council meeting when the former Dards pub site at Cudworth - a private scheme - was given as an example as to how a pub site could be redeveloped effectively.
Coun Roy Miller, cabinet spokesman, said: "At the moment the council is not looking at redeveloping any former pub sites.
"This is something that we may look at in the future as they tend to be large sites with existing services and infrastructure in place.
"We want to encourage businesses to thrive in Barnsley so any decision to grant planning permission on former pub sites will be given careful consideration."
