A FORMER star of the TV show The Voice will be performing in Dodworth next weekend.

Emily Worton was mentored by Will.i.am on the BBC One show in 2013 and has agreed to sing at a fundraiser for Chris Williamson.

Chris, 25, of Calver Close, Dodworth, has spent much of his life so far battling brain tumours. He featured in the Chronicle two weeks ago because friends and family are trying to send him to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United play at home from one of the executive boxes.

Voice star Emily, from Thurgoland, will perform at an all-day fundraiser in Dodworth next weekend.

"Emily is absolutely fantastic, we're really looking forward to it," said Christine Shaw, landlady of The Station, which will host the event.

It will also feature a 'Bushtucker Trial' where four brave contestants will eat delicacies including grubs and a dog meat pie.

It is on Saturday, September 19, with a family-friendly fun day from noon into the early evening, with live entertainment later.
