Barnsley got took an early lead but drew 1-1 at lowly Blackpool on Saturday.

Conor Hourihane put the visitors ahead after eight minutes but the Tangerines levelled early in the second half then both sides missed late chances to win it.

Barnsley head coach Lee Johnson made just one change from the 4-1 win over Swindon a week earlier with Sam Winnall coming back in for Ryan Williams.

The Reds got the perfect start when Marley Watkins ran into the right side of the home box and squared for Hourihane to finish into the bottom left corner.

The hosts should have levelled three minutes later but Henry Cameron fired well over six yards out after meeting a Brad Potts cross from the left.

The match the quietened down after that point with long-rangers Winnall and Potts forcing routine saves at either end.

The Tangerines had a succession of corners towards the end of the first half with Reds goalkeeper Nick Townsend twice saving comfortably from Tom Aldred headers after crosses by Cameron.

But visitors levelled after 55 when impressive half-time substitute Jack Redshaw fired into the bottom left corner following a good passing move.

Barnsley always looked the more likely to get the winner as Kadeem Harris shot wide twice and crossed for substitute Michael Smith to head a good chance over.

Hourihane forced a fantastic one-handed save out of home goalkeeper Colin Doyle with a shot from the edge of the box. Nick Townsend was lucky not to concede when a clearance was charged down or when he came out of his box and was beaten by Mark Cullen whose cross was cleared by Alfie Mawson. But the Reds' goalkeeper saved them on 88 minutes when he kept out a Redshaw shot that was heading for the bottom left corner.
