POORLY babies and children who have to spend Christmas in hospital are set to be given a boost by an appeal to donate presents.

The hospital’s charity is asking businesses, schools and the public to make their time in hospital more bearable by sparing £10 to help provide gifts.

Steve Wragg, Chairman of Barnsley Hospital, said: “Christmas is a time for giving and spending time with families and loved ones, but for many local children on our children’s wards, they are forced to spend Christmas in hospital. Some of these children sadly are suffering terminal illnesses, others are simply too ill and weak to be released from hospital.”
