THE prospect of a pelican crossing on the A628 in Silkstone have been ruled out despite demands from the community.
A petition amid concerns from elderly residents was sent to Barnsley Council via Silkstone Parish Council earlier this year, voicing worries that the 30mph speed limit was largely ignored by drivers.
Now a meeting has been held between senior Barnsley Council officials, Barnsley councillors and Silkstone Parish Councillors to try to find a way forward and Barnsley Council is now in the process of working out costings for safety measures which could be installed there.
