Barnsley's academy teams both drew this week against Sheffield United before the first teams clash tomorrow.
The under 18s drew 2-2 away on Saturday while the under 21 side were held to a goalless draw a at Oakwell on Monday.
The 21s had good chances to snatch a winner in the second half with substitute Harry White denied by a good save and trialist Jesse Devers failing to get a good connection on a long ball.
Coach Paul Heckingbottom felt a point for his and Chris Morgan's sides was fair. He said: "It was a competitive game, especially in the second half. Part of our job is to replicate the intensity of a first team game. As it wore on it got tougher, stronger and more competitive and that's what I want. "You want to be tested and pushed all the way and we certainly were.
"We were defending really well and looked a threat on the counter. We would have been delighted to pinch one on the counter but a draw was probably a fair result."
Devers, formerly of Wolves, and Stalybridge Celtic's Darius Osie played up front and were given another chance to impress after good displays in the last game.
Heckingbottom added: "They have played the last game at Cardiff and both scored so we need another look at them. We're having a good look. The lad who's a free agent can stay as long as he wants. The other boy we're in contact with regular and he can still go back and play for them. One to eleven did well and we got a clean sheet as a reward."
The under 18s conceded two penalties against United. On target for Barnsley were Will Smith and Wade Maxwell. The under 21s travel to Bolton Wanderers on Monday.
