THEY say if you don’t know Keith Ellis then you’re probably not from Barnsley.
A former policeman, a lifelong Rotarian, school governor and all round good egg, Keith is something of a local legend.
And when he turned 80 on Tuesday the town he has served so very well for so long sent hearty best wishes.
Keith, who lives in Stone Street, Honeywell, became a copper in 1956 when he was demobbed from the RAF.
Keith retired as a policeman in November 1986, but carried on working at Oakwell for the PFA as part of the football in the community programme.
