A PUPPY who went missing in the woods on Christmas Day had a lucky break when she was discovered by a woman on her way to the Boxing Day sales.
The 12-week-old black labrador named Ellie ran away while being walked by friends of her owner.
She was off her lead when a strange dog approached and scared her, causing her to flee into the woodland.
After owner Trish Watson of the Elephant and Castle pub, Hemingfield, found out, a 22-hour search began with villagers, friends, customers, and even an X Factor star offering to help.
Trish said: ÒIt started a 22 hour search on Christmas Day, in the middle of us serving and preparing meals for customers. We were taking it in turns to go look for her. All you could hear from the woodland was people shouting Ellie.
ÒWe got in touch with lost and found and a man came out and gave us some big lights, which lit up the woods at night like ET was landing.
ÔIt was incredible, the support of the village.Ó
