DIAMOND couple Edward and Eileen Haigh are to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Thursday.
The pair, of Belle Green Gardens, Cudworth, met when they were just five years old and tied the knot at Ardsley Church on January 28, 1956, at Ardsley Church.
Edward, 82, a former auditor for the National Coal Board and 81-year-old Eileen have two sons, David and Andrew, and five grandchildren.
Edward said: “We knew each other from our childhood but we used to fall out like kids do when they play. We started getting the same bus to work quite a few years later and we just started sitting together. It went from there.”
