THE BARNSLEY branch of the Royal Engineers Association has closed after membership dwindled to just five.
It has been going for ‘decades’ and has been based at Highstone Road WMC in Worsbrough Common for about 15 years.
But secretary Pat Findlow said the decision was made at the last meeting in January because existing members were becoming too old and no new members had come forward.
After the decision to fold was made, members decided to donate the association’s funds to Barnsley Hospital’s Tiny Hearts Appeal.
