Ten man Barnsley battled to only their fourth draw of the season with a solid display at Gigg Lane.

This game against former manager David Flitcroft's side, originally scheduled for Boxing Day, was largely dominated by The Reds but they failed to capitalise on their chances and had to hold on in the final stages after Adam Hammill saw red for a tackle on former Barnsley player Danny Rose.

Caretaker boss Paul Heckingbottom made two changes with Josh Scowen in for Josh Brownhill and George Williams replacing the injured Aidy White.

Barnsley had early shots from Alfie Mawson and Conor Hourihane before Sam Winnall put Lloyd Isgrove clear but the winger's shot was kept out by Bury 'keeper Ian Lawlor.

Winnall was the next to go close with a volley from Hammil's corner.

Scowen also flashed a shot over as Barnsley continued to dominate the opening half.

Winnall produced a smart save out of Lawlor early in the second half after he flicked Hammill's centre towards goal.

Hammill continued to look lively and attempted to beat Lawlor at his near post from a half cleared corner.

Bury had improved in the second half and attempted to get more crosses into the box for Tom Pope.

Brownhill and Ashley Fletcher were brought on by Heckingbottom with 18 minutes to go in an attempt to find a winner.

Hammill then flew into the tackle with Rose but appeared to win the ball but referee Carl Boyesson produced a straight red.
