SOME of Barnsley’s finest young musicians are holding a concert on Friday to buy equipment for Greenacre School.
Seven soloists who were all finalists in the Barnsley Young Musician of the Year 2007 competition will perform alongside the Wentworth String Orchestra.
They event, at Greenacre School, Keresforth Hill Road at 7pm, has been organised to help buy communication machines for pupils.
Soloists are Isobel Carpenter (flute), Stephanie Eustis (cello), Jessica Johnson (flute), Ian Poole (tenor horn), Mark Rogers (alto saxophone), Andrew Thompson (tenor Horn), Terri Walton (baritone).
Lesley Hepworth, head of Performing Arts Development Service, said: “These machines make such a difference to the lives of children. This concert is a great chance for our musicians to support developing opportunities of others within our community.”
