TALENTED musician Emma Prince is feeling ‘plucky’ after securing a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music in London.

The 17-year-old Barnsley girl was offered scholarships at all four of the conservatoires where she auditioned and is over the moon to receive the offer at the prestigious academy, being one of only a few double bassists to be given a place.

Emma, of Nether Royd View, Silkstone Common, said: “This year I had to apply for what I wanted to do after school and I wanted to go to a music conservatoire and applied to four different places - two in London, one in Manchester and one in Scotland - and was accepted for all four.
