BARNSLEY school children are celebrating after winning eight medals at the 2016 South Yorkshire school games.
More than 1,800 primary and secondary pupils from across the region competed in the games winter festival at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield.
Pupils took part in 23 competitions across seven sports - sports hall athletics, gymnastics, cheerleading, basketball, boccia, new age kurling and handball.
Greenacre School took home both the gold and silver medals for boccia. Gold medals were also grabbed by Upperwood School for advanced gymnastics, Carlton Community college for cheerleading, Outwood Academy Shafton for handball, and Holgate School for new age kurling.
Horizon Community College got the bronze for cheerleading.
