A YOUNG soldier from Grimethorpe is showing promise on the slopes after being awarded her regimental colours after excelling at Nordic skiing.
Samantha Grist, of Craven Court, is a gunner with 26 Regiment Royal Artillery based in Gutersloh, Germany and started the disclipline three years ago.
The 20-year-old said: “I had never tried Nordic skiing before and the training was really intense and hard work but so worth it and enjoyable despite all the initial falling over.”
