A MOTHER whose debilitating illness means that she has the lungs of a 78-year-old says running has have improved her condition so much she is taking part in a ten-mile race.

Tracey Turner’s lungs were so badly affected by alpha protein deficiency that she struggled to get out of bed and relied on an inhaler eight times a day.

She suffered asthma attacks and was told by medics that her lungs were so damaged that they were in the state of a pensioner’s.

Tracey, 46, of Higham Common Road, Higham, was diagnosed with the condition - which damages lung tissue - after suffering from severe asthma since she was a young child.

But after she started to exercise regularly, which developed into a love of running, Tracey noticed a huge improvement in her breathing and wellbeing.
