THERE can be few brides who arrive at their wedding to face cannon shot, dense columns of French infantry and rampaging cavalry.
That is exactly the sight that will greet Dawn Duerden when she arrives at Cannon Hall on May 1 to marry her fiance Andrew Haigh.
But rather than being perturbed when she was told her dream wedding was at the same time as a historic battle re-enactment, 49-year-old Dawn was thrilled when it was explained that meant she and her new husband will get a guard of honour like no other.
Not only will Wellington’s Redcoats provide the happy couple with an extra special historic honour guard - they have even negotiated a temporary ceasefire with Napoleon’s invading army during the wedding ceremony.
