TWO Hoyland Viking players have been selected to play for the South Yorkshire rugby team.

Chris Ferris, 15, and Kieran Dyson, 12, were selected for the county after undergoing trials in Sheffield.

Dad and treasurer of the club, Phil Ferris, said the club had a history of producing quality players.

He said: “We are only a small club but we have produced professional players in the past so we are happy to have these two called up.

“ Obviously for the pair to get through to South Yorkshire is a great achievement in itself. We’ll have to see where it goes from there.”
