THE family of an elderly man are warning others to be vigilant after he was duped out of £140 by four men who asked him if he needed any odd jobs doing.
Kathleen Bell’s 87-year-old father told the men he needed his hedges trimming, but was shocked when they started pointing the front and back steps of his council house after telling him they were dangerous.
When he handed over £100, the men told him it wasn’t enough and asked him where the rest of his money was.
Kathleen, 59, of Carlton Road, Smithies, said: “I’m so mad, it could have been so much worse for my dad. I want people to know what’s happened; we consider my dad got off lightly but someone else might not.”
