AN AWARD winning voluntary project which has provided more than a decade of service to some of Barnsley’s most needy is facing closure following a funding crisis.
The Romero Support and Guidance Centre, based at St Helen’s Church in Athersley, is set to close its doors on August 10 ‘unless a miracle happens’ say the people who run it.
The centre deals with issues including problems with benefits, housing, debt, relationship problems, health issues, safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
It has also helped with problems associated with isolation and social exclusion.
It also helps people facing a sudden crisis like redundancy or bereavement.
The aim is to ensure some of the most hard-to-reach people get the help they need.
