MORE than 1.2m people visited Barnsley’s cultural attractions in the 12 months to this March, contributing an estimated £26.2m to the local economy.
Over one weekend in March, 350 volunteers clocked up 2,500 hours as part of the national Clean for the Queen initiative - these and other efforts, such as addressing social isolation, helped to produce volunteer hours worth £252,000 during 2015/16 and are just two of the headlines from the council’s corporate plan performance report.
The annual performance report will be presented to ruling cabinet members on Wednesday.
For the first time, the headline details are available online as an animation film, with audio narrative which can be viewed via PC, laptop or smartphone.
