SPURRED by her concern for the environment, Anne Untisz left her car at home on Tuesday and rode five miles to work on a horse.
Anne, who is the council’s tourism and promotions manager, surprised her colleagues when she trotted to work on her five-year-old bay, Bracken.
Council employees were asked to use environmentally friendly forms of transport to celebrate World Environment Day, and Anne wanted to do something more interesting than walk or ride a bike.
She made the journey from her home in Tanfield Close, Royston, before “parking” Bracken at the Barnsley Riding for the Disabled stables at Oakwell.
Most of the two-hour ride was on the Trans-Pennine Trail, and she had to get up at 6am to arrive at work on time.
