A HEARTBROKEN mother was left without answers after the inquest into the death of her 13-year-old son who hanged himself after a family argument.
Coroner Donald Coutts-Wood recorded a verdict of misadventure on Marcus Jonathan Bouskill, of Princess Road, Goldthorpe, who died on February 15. Scratch marks on Marcus's neck indicated that the incident was a ‘cry for help’ and he had tried to release the ligature round his neck but had been unable to do so.
“It seems to have been a spur of the moment situation and he might well have been trying to recover from it,” said Mr Coutts-Wood.
“I take great cognisance of those finger marks. He set out on a cry for help, annoyance situation and sadly it has gone tragically wrong, far beyond what he intended it to be.”
Marcus died at Leeds General Infirmary three days after he was found hanging from an attic balustrade with a red and white England flag round his neck.
On the morning of his death, he had been reprimanded by his mother for arguing with one of his brothers and was found hanging shortly afterwards.
