BARNSLEY Council has refused to comment on what action it took after an enforcement officer was heard swearing at a member of the public he had just accused of dropping a cigarette end.
“Go f*ck yoursen you jumped up pr*ck,” was the parting shot from the man issuing fines on behalf of Barnsley Council when he accosted Joe Hooley, whose story featured in the Chronicle in May.
The legal case against him was finally dropped when Joe arrived to court to answer accusations of littering - which he always denied.
The council submitted video evidence to the court captured by a body camera worn by the officer, and the court gave it to Joe to watch in preparation for defending himself - he could not afford a solicitor.
But when Joe watched the footage back, he was stunned to hear the abusive rant clearly audible on the footage right at the end - when the officer appeared to think the camera had been shut off.
