A SHAFTON teenager had to pay £200 after being caught dumping rubbish at the back of a depot.
Ryan Shaw, 19, of High Street was found guilty of fly-tipping at VHE Construction, near to the Two Gates roundabout.
He was fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 costs when he appeared at Barnsley Magistrates on Thursday.
Council spokesman Coun Roy Miller said: “I cannot understand why someone would risk a substantial fine and significant costs when they know, given the publicity over recent months, how successful we are in catching people who do not dispose of their waste properly.
“However, this is one more person who has learnt the hard way, and if we have to take more to court so they do the same, then we will. We want people not only to have respect for the environment but take pride in Barnsley.”
