OVERGROWN weeds, rundown play areas and missing equipment are just some of the problems faced by the parks in the area’s smaller villages.

Broomhill Park, Pinfold Lane park in Darfield and Middlecliffe Park all suffer from at least one of these issues.

John Driver, from Broomhead Road, Wombwell, contacted the Chronicle this week with concerns about the state of the play area and upkeep of Broomhill Park.

John said: “We have been going with the kids from when they were young, and once it was well kept, with the grass cut. Now it’s unkempt. There’s long grass everywhere with only a short space from the path being cut, around the edge.”
