AN angry parish councillor has urged Barnsley Council to quite literally tidy up its act in Shafton.
The local authority, which is paid by Shafton Parish Council to cut its playing fields 15 times per year, is leaving pitches in such a state that they’re ‘unplayable’, according to fed-up Dave North.
“We’ve always hired our fields out to football teams but we’ve been unable to do this because of Barnsley Council’s disgraceful standards. Even when they’re cut the grass is too long and what’s left are mounds of grass.”
