The funeral will take place today of a former Brierley miner and caretaker.
Martin Knight of Grange Road died in Barnsley Hospital aged 83. He was originally from Grimethorpe but moved to Brierley in 1981.
He worked at Grimethorpe Colliery and then as assistant caretaker at Willowgarth High School. He spent his retirement dancing and decorating for family and friends. Mr Knight leaves a widow, Elsie, four children, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The funeral service led by Father Paul O‘Hara is at St Paul’s RC Church at 10.45am followed by burial in Grimethorpe.
