CONTROVERSIAL plans to build a 164-home development off a road in Royston known to be a speeding hotspot have been submitted to Barnsley Council.
Barratt Homes has revealed its plan for the site, off Lee Lane, which includes 81 four-bedroom, 67 three-bedroom and 16 affordable housing units after the developer held a public consultation to gauge public opinion at Royston Working Mens’ Club in October.
Barnsley Council’s Local Plan, which sets out its proposals for future homes up to 2033, has identified the site as a ‘key area’ for opportunity in the village, as well as the remainder of the former Royston High School site.
