BARNSLEY Hospital has received more funding which has allowed them to employ a new support nurse.

NHS England have supported the hospital’s React to Red campaign which aims to prevent pressure sores which lead to ulcers.

Scarlet Darling, who will work part time, will help to train nurses to recognise the early warning signs of pressure ulcers, more commonly known as bedsores.

She said: “Ours is the first acute trust to fully roll out the training programme, so this is a real chance for us to celebrate excellence and pave the way for other acute trusts in the future.”
