AN ELSECAR pub has been granted planning permission to create three new bed and breakfast rooms - despite concerns in the area about a lack of car parking for visitors.
Barnsley Council was asked for permission to convert an upstairs function room at the Market Inn, alongside Elsecar Heritage Centre, in Wentworth Road, into rooms to be let out to visitors.
Councillors granted permission this week, although concerns had been raised about the lack of car parking spaces at the pub for visitors and the decision was made after a site visit, which had been requested by Coun Tim Shepherd, who represents the area.
Council planners received a letter from Milton Hall, across the road, raising concerns about the lack of parking associated with the pub and to flag up the problem that the hall’s own spaces are already mis-used by others.
