HOYLAND is in line for Barnsley's biggest jobs bonanza with more than 6,000 new opportunities expected to be created within the next 15 years.
Work to open up the area with improved road links around junction 36 on the M1 is expected to be completed this summer.
Although that is a vital first link in the process, there will be many more hurdles before the jobs actually start to come on stream.
However, Barnsley Council is anticipating that when the project is completed, the district will benefit from 4,744 jobs directly created by business and industry in the area, along with another 1,582 which will emerge as an indirect result of having that amount of new business in the area.
The plans hinge on Barnsley Council's Local Plan being approved by inspectors and adopted, a process scheduled to be completed by the autumn.
