TANKERSLEY business Company Shop is planning major expansion creating more than 200 jobs which would expand its current workforce by more than a third.
Company Shop, locally known as Marren’s, already employs almost 600 people but plans to expand nationally creating more than 200 new jobs across its operation, of which about 65 are expected to be based in Barnsley.
The firm owns a 3.1 hectare undeveloped site on the edge of Tankersley Industrial Estate, close to its main shop and distribution warehouse.
Details of the planned expansion are revealed in planning documents submitted as part of an application for a new storage and distribution warehouse building on that undeveloped site, off Maple Grove and Maple Court at Tankersley, which it plans to sell to another firm, Rula Developments Ltd.
