A TRAVELLER from Barnsley is in danger of losing her leg after suffering horrific injuries in a motorbike crash in Thailand.

Jenni Evans, 22, had been travelling in Vietnam, Laos and Thailand with her boyfriend Joe Askham when she was injured in Ko Pha Ngan on May 12.

She has had two unsuccessful operations on her leg and desperately needs to be flown to England for more treatment.

After problems with her travel insurance, the people of Barnsley have raised more than £24,000 to help get Jenni, of Sheffield Road, Barnsley, back home.

From hospital in Koh Samui, Jenni told the Chronicle: “I’m overwhelmed by the support I’ve received. Barnsley is such a tight-knit community and all my friends have really come together with arranging fund-raising events and the JustGiving page.

“I really can’t thank everyone enough. It’s such a boost and helps me to stay positive.

“What has also surprised me is the generosity and kind words strangers have put forward, it’s really touching.”

Search ‘get Jenni home’ to find the fund-raising page on the JustGiving website.
