A WIDOWER has handed over almost £400 to the chemotherapy unit at Barnsley Hospital for the kind and caring way they cared for his wife.
Susan Carole Stewart died on April 12 at Barnsley Hospital aged 72.
She had suffered from bowel, liver and lung cancer for 18 months.
Her husband Terry, 71, of Manor Park, Silkstone, handed over the money to staff which was collected in lieu of flowers at her funeral.
Terry, a director at Rotherham United Football Club, said: “The doctors and nurses do such a good job. They were so professional and caring, it really opened our eyes. The doctors and nurses couldn’t do enough for us, they looked after her brilliantly and really made her last few days very pleasant. Right up until the end they were fantastic.
“We’d like to thank everyone who donated, and I hope Ward 24 can use the money for something good for the people.”
